"Music Sarsa"
Media today are
dominated by western cultures, from advertising to movies, and the kinds of
music that people prefer to listen to and rather the adaptation of these trends
to their lifestyle and culture. Influence by peers and accompanies by the
trends of the society, for what is popular and recent. People are knowledgeable
and informed about the genres of music existing today. At some point, personal
choice is demand on the scenario but as reality takes place and the status quo
defines that choosing one’s favorite is greatly influenced by the media.
Art is a skillful presentation
of concepts and emotions in a form that is structurally satisfying and coherent
and MUSIC is one of the products of it. Music serves as therapy to the ears and
builds companionship in the social life aspects of each individual. The image
of the reality that shows different perspectives from multiview to one view
perspective is essential to create the outlet to let out our excess energy by
simply listening to specific songs. As a communication that is relevant and
essential to life, through music, different languages and cultures may be
defined.
Furthermore, as what I
know and observe, influence through factors in choosing one’s genre can be
transferred from one generation to another. What I am talking about here is
based on the guy named HANS that we’ve interviewed last week; He said that the
reason that he called himself as “EMO” is because his brother and other
relatives are into that genre also. HE is also emotionally touched because he
relates his real life in every message of the songs, especially “EMO SONGS”. I
think that as what the guy saw to others easily caught up his attention and
he’s now participating in doing that thing through practicing the lifestyle of
the genre to be specific in his life.
The other guy named
ABDULLAH said that he preferred to choose to be RAKISTA because of the music.
The message of the songs are good and he felt relax whenever he listens to the
songs. The way he dressed, the way he speak is manifested that this is me, I am
a RAKISTA not only to the kind of music I preferred to listen to but also my
whole attitude, thinking, my lifestyle and perception are accommodated to the
genre called “Rock Songs.”
And then, the last guy
said that I am a HIP-HOP, why hip-hop? Because the way I dressed and speak, the
choice of my songs. I like RAP, because it is my favorite. I am motivated
whenever I do listen to those songs. Being brave and high personality reflects
me in the genre of music called “HIP-HOP”.
At the end of the day,
readers, we must realize that Postmodern Culture existing today is determined
to the different genre that people are engaged into. Their lifestyle that
creates attitude change, knowledge and practice, manifests their culture. The
way of their living, the type of music genre they are portraying is relevant in
accommodating the fast face modern society existing.
For me, no matter what
genre of music you prefer to listen, like and patronize, at the end of the day,
people we are not belong in a group that needs a one commonality of experience
and attitude in order to develop, but rather a total change of thinking not
only outside but also inside. Each of us has a different characteristic that
people know it about, we have our own identity and uniqueness and sometimes we
don’t need to enter a group to be known and popular. We make a difference in
our own and YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.
